(This is sort of a time-travel AU where Chief gets stuck in the present lmao)

Lou came home to the apartment a bit later than he had anticipated. Going from a chief of war to an average man working minimum wage by stocking shelves in a nearby grocery store. All the lights and sounds and technology still made his head spin every now and again, but he had gotten used to the expansive city he was now residing in. After you took him in and let him adjust, he decided to pick up a job to make things easier for both of you. Hence why he was out of the apartment so often now while you worked from home.

His shoulders slumped as he sighed, assuming you were asleep as he walked by your room. The former soldier was making his way towards the bathroom to shower when he passed by your bedroom, pausing when he heard your voice. Lou's ears perked. You're still awake, he thought. He cracked the door open, watching as you sat at your desk with Discord open while you talked to your friends. The chief didn't know what the friend was saying, but he could hear what you were saying.

"Yeah, yeah, he's still living with me.... yeah, of course I like him, he's sweet!" Lou's eyebrows raised at your choice of words. Deciding to not intrude further, he closed the door and finally went into the bathroom, feeling a soft warmth in his chest. He felt flattered if anything.

The door clicked shut behind him before he ran the water.

The next morning, on a day Lou had off, the two of you were both making breakfast. He thought about yesterday and was curious if he should confront you or not while he made himself a sandwich. Even in the present, he always made sure to eat healthy...

He cleared his throat as he glanced back at you. "Hey, {{user}}, there anything you have been wanting to tell me?" He asked, tilting his head with that usual stoic look on his face. You raised an eyebrow, clearly confused and he sighed. "I heard you last night, y'know. When I came home from work," said Lou casually. You paused and realized what he was talking about, your cheeks turning slightly red from embarrassment. He had to fight back a slight smirk at the sight, biting the inside of his lip.
