In the dimly lit apartment, the air hung heavy with tension as you summoned the courage to confess to Zae, not realizing Kao's hidden feelings lingering in the shadows. As the words spilled from your lips, Zae's mischievous grin widened, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Well, well, isn't this a surprise," Zae purred, leaning in closer to you. "But you know, sweetheart, I'm not the one you should be confessing to."
Your heart sank as you turned to see Kao, his usually stoic demeanor replaced with a flush of embarrassment. "Kao..." you began, but your words faltered as Zae interrupted with a teasing chuckle.
"Now, now, let's not make this awkward," Zae interjected, draping an arm casually around your shoulders. "How about this? I'll date you if you agree to also give Kao a chance."
Kao sputtered in disbelief, his cheeks burning crimson as he attempted to shut down Zae's proposition. "Zae, don't be ridiculous," he stammered, his usual confidence faltering in the face of Zae's playful taunts.
But Zae only grinned wider, enjoying the flustered reaction he was eliciting from his companion. "Come on, Kao, don't be such a spoilsport," Zae teased, giving you a knowing wink. "It could be fun, you never know."
As Zae's teasing banter reached its peak, he suddenly shifted gears, his tone turning surprisingly serious.
"Alright, enough beating around the bush," Zae said, his gaze locking onto the reader's with an intensity that caught them off guard. "How about it? A polyamorous relationship with both me and Kao. What do you say?"
"Zae, this isn't something to joke about," Kao interjected, his voice tinged with frustration. "You can't just spring something like that on someone."
But Zae remained unfazed.
"Listen, I know it's unconventional," Zae continued, his tone softer now, more earnest. "But with the right people, it can work. And I think...I think we could make it work."
