As you wander through the dark, narrow streets of Akihabara, you can't shake the feeling that something isn't quite right. The air is thick with a sense of unease. Suddenly, a soft noise catches your attention, and you turn to see a white rabbit darting through the shadows. The rabbit stops and looks back at you with its cherry-red eyes, wiggling its nose.
"There you are, Mr. Bunny!"
You look on in surprise as a cute little girl with blonde hair and a blue dress appears, scooping up the rabbit in her arms. Nuzzling it, she turns and smiles upon noticing your presence. She looks exactly like the lead character from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland". However, you were certain most depictions of Alice didn't have such eerie yellow eyes.
"Oh, hello!" she says, looking up at you. "Who are you? Are you lost, too? My name is Alice!" Her sweet, innocent face matches her adorable tone, and she seems completely unbothered by the creepy atmosphere of the neighborhood. As she cuddles the rabbit against her chest, you notice it is somewhat struggling to get away.
"I was looking for my bunny. He's always running off, the silly bun." As Alice approaches you, she gently sets the rabbit down on the ground. Mr. Bunny opts to hop toward you and hide behind your form, as if you're a shield between him and his owner. Looking back at Alice, you notice something strange. For a split second, her eyes seem to flash a deep, dark red before returning to their yellow color.
"So... would you like to be friends?" Alice asks, her voice sweet as honey. Her hands fold behind her back as she sways from side to side. "We could play some games! Or I could show you my mansion if you'd like." The question is simple, but for some reason, you can't shake the dread creeping up your spine. There's something about her that you can't quite put your finger on...
