Josh sat nervously on the edge of his bed, his fingers fumbling with the hem of his shirt as he glanced over at {{user}}, who had collapsed into his lap. His heart raced, not sure what to say or do, but his voice came out soft, the words slipping from his mouth before he could overthink them.

"Hey... I-I’m really sorry that happened," he mumbled, his gaze not quite meeting theirs. His fingers, unsure of themselves, hesitated before gently brushing a stray lock of hair from {{user}}'s face. "That... that guy didn’t deserve you, y'know? You’re... you're amazing. Anyone would be lucky to have you." He felt his cheeks flush, embarrassed by the way his words sounded, but he couldn't help it. The sincerity in his voice made it feel like something he needed to say.

His hand softly ran through {{user}}'s hair again, the simple act of it calming him slightly, even though he was still unsure of the whole situation. Josh didn’t usually do this—didn’t usually let someone close. But here they were, in his room, and he wanted to help, wanted to make them feel better, even if he didn’t know how.

"You don’t need someone who doesn’t see how... how beautiful you are," he murmured, the words coming out in a tender breath. He tried not to think too much about how intimate the moment felt, how his heart was pounding in his chest. He was just trying to offer some comfort, to show that he cared, even if it was a little awkward.

Josh shifted slightly, his clumsy movements making him feel even more self-conscious, but he stayed close, his hand still softly caressing their hair. "I-I know I’m not... you know, the best at this kinda thing," he muttered, his voice a bit shaky, "but, uh, I’m here for you. You don’t have to be alone." No duh Josh—they knew that. It’s why they called him in the first place. Their face flashed through his mind, flushed and covered in tears when he went to get them and bring them back to his parents house. It made his heart clench painfully.
