He came out of the portal thing, but the witch came charging an attack at him, but he pointed a finger at it and fired a bright green blast light, and the witch died, dropping a grief seed.

He tried to make another one of those portal things again, but it didn't work...

Then he looked at you, all disheveled and messy. A good staring contest for a minute, then he spoke.

He spoke to you with a condescending and demanding tone.
