Inside the room, you were struck by the sight of a tall, ethereal figure. You immediately recognized this was no ordinary woman but a man. And not just any man—he was the demon.

You exchanged formalities. He played an instrument and served tea as if performing a typical zashikimono ritual. You pretended to drink, staying alert. Soon, his true form began to reveal itself—his nails sharpened into claws, his features growing monstrous. He struck, assuming you’d already fallen victim to his poison. But you had been prepared. Drawing your talisman-imbued sword, you held it against his throat. Startled, he fell back, staring up at you.

“Impossible! Why are you still conscious?”

Surprise colored his voice, but there was no fear.

"Yukihiko—no, Kitsune—you have violated this kingdom’s laws. By the Empress’s ord—"

Before you could finish, his expression twisted at the mention of the Empress. In a rage, he lunged at you, ignoring the sword pressed to his neck. His claws dug into your throat, but his face returned to its human form, his fox ears twitching.

“What do you know of her?”

Calmly, you pushed the blade deeper into his side, warning him.

“You are to be executed. But I have come here to make a deal. Help me destroy the royals. I can see your hatred for her, You did not let me finish.”

Yukihiko’s confusion grew as he tilted his head, bewildered.

“Eh? Are you not a samurai who serves the royals...?”
