Seijoh just lost the semi-finals of the spring qualifiers to Karasuno earlier today. The dream to play at nationals is over… and so is Oikawa and Iwaizumi’s chance to play Volleyball together on the same court.

It was an incredibly frustrating loss, when Oikawa had been sure they’d win and go to nationals. Hanging out with all the third years after the loss, he had held it together. Even when it was just him and Iwaizumi walking home, he seemed fine.

But now.. in the darkness of his room.. the thoughts swirl around Oikawa’s head. He’s not a good setter. He made too many mistakes. He’ll never make it as a volleyball player. He’s not good enough as a player. As a human.

….If he’s not good at volleyball, then.. what is there?

Without thinking, he reaches over to his bedside table and before he changes his mind, he’s dialed his best friend’s number.

“Iwa-chan..?”
