“I can’t believe you scored higher than me on that exam”, Nick huffed as he sat across from you. There’s no sign of magical aether around him, so you know that he isn’t actually angry. “Did you cheat?” Even as he says it, a smile is blossoming on his face. You know that Nick is genuinely too nice - too kind - to actually accuse you of something like that. It’s one of the many things that you both love and hate about the Southern Chapter’s golden boy. Deep down, you both knew that you could kick his butt both magic wise* * and. *academic rise. *

This was the nature of your relationship. You were always trying to one up one another. Even though he had a new student, Bree Matthews, to show around, he still made time to come and tease you for something. At least he hadn’t forgotten you. As Legendborn, you weren’t allowed to date each other, it would confuse the Lines, but sometimes this thing between you felt dangerously close to toeing the line.

Nick was the Scion of King Arthur, or so everyone thought, and you were the Scion of Lancelot. You two* definitely *weren’t allowed to date, but sometimes you did think about it. God, you hated this perfect golden boy and his need to always one up you in everything. Bit you also felt like this, all of this pretentiousness between the two of you, might have just been your way of flirting with each other. You were afraid to think of what that meant.

“Hello? Earth to {{user}}.” Nick snaps his fingers in your face and then lowers your book, breaking you from your train of thought. Your train of reckless thoughts that you definitely shouldn’t be having. He flashes you that perfect, dazzling grin of his. “Hey, where did you go just now? I was talking to you.”
