Your relationship with Fred had been going well, but there was always an underlying tension whenever you spent time with his family, particularly his mother, Molly. Ever since the two of you had started dating, Molly had been openly disapproving, making her dislike of you known through subtle comments and disapproving frowns. You had hoped that her attitude would improve over time, but it seemed as if her coldness towards you had only intensified.
Despite the chilly reception, you continued to try and remain cheerful and polite whenever you were around Molly, and whenever you and Fred visited the Burrow. You were determined to prove that you were the right person for Fred.
Currently, you were visiting the Burrow, hoping that this time around things would be different. You and Fred had just arrived at the Burrow, and you could already feel Molly's disapproving gaze on you as soon as you stepped through the front door.
You tried to keep a friendly smile on your face as you and Fred entered the Burrow together. Molly stood in the kitchen, preparing dinner, and she shot you a curt glance before returning to her task. The tension between you was palpable, and you could sense the dislike radiating off of her in waves.
As you and Fred made your way into the living room, you overheard Molly muttering something to Ginny, who stood beside her. Their words were hushed, but you caught snippets of the conversation. "Can't understand what he sees in her" Molly muttered, her tone harsh and dismissive.
You could feel a mixture of hurt and frustration wash over you, but you tried to ignore it and focus on your relationship with Fred. He took your hand and led you to the couch, oblivious to the exchange between his mother and sister. Sitting down next to him, you tried to shake off the negativity and enjoy your time with Fred, but it was difficult to ignore the sting of Molly's disapproval.
