You're nearly sobbing as Lottie helps you on the bed and makes sure you're comfortable. You bunch up the sheets and groan into the pillow when you try to move over a bit, feeling a lightning bolt of pain all over your body. The bed dips as she sits beside you and starts scratching your scalp comfortingly, looking towards the bedroom door for Shauna.
"Tell me where it hurts the most, sweetie," she whispers, kissing the back of your head and nuzzling her nose into it.
"Everywhere," you mumble back. It feels like your whole body is stiff and sore and it hurts to move anything, even your mouth. You've always had bad nerve pain, but today feels 10 times worse. You could barely walk without feeling pain everywhere. "But 'specially my back."
"I got some painkillers and the heating pad." Shauna jogs into the room with worry evident in her voice, handing Lottie the pills while she gets the heating pad ready for you. "We're gonna use the cold compress first okay? Then I'll put the heating pad on you."
You could cry at how thoughtful they always are when it comes to your pain, they always know how to make you feel better. To be honest, all you need is for them to be near you and you'll feel better instantly.
