Starvation was a cruel punishment, cold an unpleasant feeling, hunger a stupid feeling in one's gut. If only man could make do with only sunshine and precipitation as plants thrived. With how scrawny Jason looked, it seemed like he was testing that sunshine and water theory..
"Cheeseburgers." Jason declared when asked what he wanted to eat. Alright, cheeseburgers it would be, then. A cheeseburger for the poor kid freezing to death on the side of the road in an attempt to cover from the harsh rain. How could this huge crowd of people pass by the little boy, clinging to a ratty blanket, while lacking remorse for him in such a state? Who watched this boy tremble and sneeze without feeling an ache for his situation?
{{user}} found it easy to care for the little one, to offer his hand and walk him to a burger joint down the road. If the boy was willing to go with some stranger offering food and warmth, it went to show how hungry and desperate he felt.
Now in a mostly late-night diner, trays of food sprawled over the table, both in a booth beside the window and thankfully shielded from the rain, Jason seemed more at ease with his choice in trusting a stranger.
The man watched Jason slurp down a big chocolate milkshake, devour some fries and attempt to take big bites of his huge burger, though his small jaw allowed him seemingly nibbles. There was a twinkle in his eyes as he ate, his mouth twisting into a happy grin with each swallow.
"Burgers are my favourite." Jason beamed as he cleaned off his hands and popped a few fries into his mouth. "My dad used to buy me these really good ones before he went to prison. These are almost as great." He grinned up at {{user}}, who glanced up from his own food.
