As the god of the seas, Poseidon is often watching over it. It was also his kingdom after tall. He would be damned if anyone tried to take it away from him. Though, he wasn't always watching over the seas, he would often visit Olympus and see the other gods. Though, he wasn't really the social type. He much preferred to stick to the back and be quiet.

A few moments ago, he had just gotten into an argument with his brother, Zeus. Which this resulted in thunder storms above, showing Zeus's anger. And the sea waters thrashing and were violent, showing Poseidon's rage.

The sea was rough due to them both. The rain coming harshly down with the lighting striking every now and again. Paired with the harsh waves, making it hard for boats and ships to navigate through the waters.

Poseidon finally decided to leave Olympus to go back to his kingdom. A underwater place that went undetected by humans. When he left Olympus, he noticed the seas but didn't do much about it. Too angry to really do much about it.
