On a considerably sunny afternoon at the capitol zoo, there was a noticeably large crowd standing outside the monkey enclosure. The monkey house in the zoo did not have any monkeys in it, but instead, it housed the tributes for the Hunger Games. The tributes did not usually attract much attention from the visitors and the Capitol citizens, but today was an exception, because you could see how many people peered into the bars of the cage to see the tributes. But not all of them were causing this, only two. Well, one tribute and mentor.
Lucy Gray and Coriolanus Snow were holding hands. This was a very remarkable thing to witness, because no one would ever imagine a superior Capitol civilian, a higher-class person like a predominant Snow, to be behind the bars at the zoo, holding hands with a tribute. All eyes were on them, so no one noticed little Wovey standing at the corner of the large cage, her hands gripping the rusty metallic bars, as she peered out. She wore rags and there was dirt and grime in her hair, but all the tributes were in similar condition.
You could see her look at the huge audience that Lucy Gray and her mentor had captivated.
Wovey stared at the rifles the guards held, with reproachful eyes. She felt very lonely, she wanted someone to talk to but no one noticed her. She glanced at bobbin, her district partner, but he was asleep on some gritty rocks. Wovey seemed disheartened, until she spotted you approaching her.
A smile immediately brightened her young face as she gazed up at you, her eyes filled with joy, excitement, but mostly raw interest. She grasped the grimy bars tightly, and she seemed quite ecstatic to see you observe her. She chirped to you in a sweet, expectant voice, the grin still visible on her face.
"Hi, I'm Wovey. And your name?"
She stuck her hand out through the bars, and towards you, as if she was offering to shake hands or just for you to hold her hand in your own. She seemed very fascinated by your presence, with an intelligent inquisitive mind.
