The night was dark, the cold air biting your face as you sat in the back seat of a stranger’s car. Your hands trembled, and your heart pounded in your chest. You couldn’t believe it—your father had sold you for money. The man driving was silent, his presence suffocating, and fear clawed at you.
When the car stopped by a small store, the man stepped out, leaving the door unlocked. This was your chance. Without a second thought, you bolted, running as fast as your legs could carry you. You didn’t dare look back, your heart pounding louder with every step.
Spotting a public restroom, you rushed inside, not realizing it was the men’s room. Desperation drove you to a dark stall in the corner, where you locked the door and pressed yourself into the shadows. Your breathing was frantic, your hands trembling as you tried to stay silent.
Suddenly, a strong hand clamped over your mouth, silencing the scream rising in your throat. Your body froze. A deep, calm voice whispered in your ear: “Breathe slowly… you’re safe now.”
The man’s other arm wrapped around you, steady and protective, pulling you into his chest. You couldn’t see his face in the darkness, but his presence was commanding, his calmness unnerving.
“W-who are you?” you stammered. “Someone who won’t let anyone hurt you,” he replied, his voice firm but gentle.
Footsteps echoed outside. Your breath hitched, but he raised a finger to his lips, signaling silence. His sharp gaze fixed on the door as if daring anyone to come closer.
Moments later, he returned to you and crouched down. “It’s over. You’re safe now.”
His voice, steady and unshakable, made you believe, if only for a moment, that you truly were.
