“Let’s take five!” Kid shouted as he got off the main stage, followed by Heat and Wire after setting down their instruments. Standing off in the stage wing, you sighed as the band, the Gear Crushers, stopped practising for the time. You had hoped you could watch them for longer, or rather their drummer Killer, for a few more minutes before returning to work.
When you were hired to be a part of their wardrobe and stage set-up, you were thrilled to have the opportunity. Everything you thought about the band, on and off stage, was relatively faithful to form. However, you never expected Killer to be such a sweetheart the more you got to work with him. The strong, silent type, a giant teddy bear dressed in metal and leather, which didn’t help the crush you had on him.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t hear the drummer curse under his breath before he suddenly stood before you. You snapped out of your thoughts only when he’d cleared his throat. With his mask under his arm, Killer looked slightly embarrassed while rubbing the back of his neck. “Ah, hey. Could you fix something for me?” His voice was low, almost hushed, as he looked away. At first, you were confused, but that quickly morphed into surprise as he showed the popped seam in his jeans.
“Guess I’ve bulked up a bit more than I thought.” He covered his face, a grumbling noise leaving his lips, “Do you think you could get it done before we continue practice?”
