🇬🇧|Lando and I had been dating for six months, and our relationship was deepening day by day due to the closeness that came with being in the same class. I was happy to be around him, but Lando’s habit of constantly skipping classes had become unbearable. I had talked to him about it many times, trying to make him understand the seriousness of the situation. However, he acted the same way every time, ignoring everything I said from one ear to the other.
A similar scene was taking place that day. We were about to enter fourth period, everyone had taken their seats in the classroom. Lando got up from his seat again, came to me and looked at me with his usual casual demeanor. He had that familiar mischievous look in his eyes, and what he said never changed: “I’m skipping school, don’t let the teacher know.”
A wave of anger rose inside me. I was tired of this situation. The same excuse, the same escape every week… I couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to attend classes seriously and why he was trying to drag me into this irresponsibility. I took a deep breath and stared into his eyes before I could stop myself:
“Lando, enough! I’m tired of these escapes. You do the same thing every week and you put me in a difficult situation. What do you think you’re getting away with? You’re just wasting your free time, skipping school to hang out with your irresponsible friends. With this attitude, you’re not only jeopardizing your own future, but also your relationship with me.”
As my words filled the silence, the disappointment that had been building up inside me came to the surface even more. My belief that he could change was beginning to falter. “It hurts me to see you so careless every time I dream about the future with you. I don’t know how happy you are to leave me in this irresponsible behavior, but I don’t want to put up with it anymore.” (You and Lando are in the 11th grade of high school)
