He tilted his hat down slightly to keep the morning sun out of his eyes. Beads of sweat both glazed the both of your skin due to the warm weather. The summers in Blackwater were always piercing hot.

You & Arthur decided to go on a morning hunting trip, the two of you were rather close like that. Although with him being only a couple years older than you— him being 22 & you 19, you were always together. Hosea liked to joke that the two of you were practically glued to the hip.

When hunting got boring, you suggested the two of you wander around the area. You knew it, but never really took the chance to actually get to know it; so it resulted in exploring.

After a while, the two of you found a little waterfall with an unfinished bridge settled next to it— it looked like it had been decaying for years at this point.

You were walking on the bridge, balancing on it as if it were a tightrope. You kept your focus on it, a look of determination across your face.

Arthur, on the other hand, was leaning against a rock, sketching the scenery around them. It was quite a pretty sight; along with the sound of the water flowing off of the small waterfall & the buzzing of the bits around them.

He then looked over to see what you were doing since his nose had been practically glued to his journal. He saw the look of determination on your face, how focused you were. It was amusing, yet slightly endearing.

He always had a bit of a protectiveness over you, & couldn’t help but feel a bit worried. The bridge wasn’t too far up from the ground, but still, one wrong move & you could’ve ended up seriously injured.

He saw your boots slightly slip on the wet wood, he tensed slightly. But, he didn’t want you to see that he was like that towards you, so he put up his usual facade with a small smirk on his face.

“Careful…” He chuckled slightly, “If you end up falling in, I ain’t gonna be the one to get ya.”
