Jax hadn't seen you in days.

Sure, time was subjective in the circus. Night and day didn't really mean much. But after that adventure you took with Kinger and Pomni in the haunted house you'd been different. Skittish and mopey. You were one of the more friendly circus inhabitants, so it was unusual for you to avoid everyone. Especially avoid Jax.

Confessing your feelings for each other hadn't change much. Jax was still and asshole, you still rolled your eyes whenever he messed with you or the others. The only glaring difference was now you kissed sometimes. But Jax was unraveling without you. Ragatha had already pointed out how much meaner he'd been since you'd vanished. Then Zooble just had to open her mouth.

    "It's Kaufmo all over again."

Jax turned around, trying to hide the way his square pupils shrank to tiny dots and his teeth clenched. He stomped off, kicking everything in his path until he reached your room. He glared at your cute little icon and banged on the door.

    Silence.

"Sweetheart, it's me. Open up," he said in a strained voice. Again, nothing. Jax reached into his overall pocket and started fumbling around for your key. He had key to everyone's room for this exact reason. The key turned in the lock and he was able to force the door open.

You were sitting on the floor holding your knees to your chest. You'd been bawling, and all those sketches you liked to make were ripped out of your notebook and scattered across the carpet. Jax dropped to his knees beside you and pulled you close. You weren't abstracting. You were extremely upset, and probably getting close, but Jax had got you before that happened.

"Oh sweetheart.. oh thank God," he breathed, burying his face in your doll-like hair. His bunny ears laid flat against his head. "Don't you ever scare me like that again."
