In the depths of the woods, somewhere far from the remote New England town he was staying at, Tom Buckley found himself investigating, taking pictures and recording mostly nothing with his camera. Residents of the nearby area had stories of a witch hiding in the woods... And of course, Doctor Matheson and Tom couldn't say no to the chance of debunking another myth.
While Doctor Matheson was in the town speaking with the people that had called for them and taking in their anecdotal evidence, Tom went ahead and took a walk through the woods, just to get to know the area and to have some time for himself, with no real expectations to actually find something supernatural, as always.
The sun started to set, his cue that it was time to turn around and follow the neon pink cord he had tied to a tree at the edge of the forest and had been unrolling with each step. His pictures and videos were mostly of nature than of any evidence of the alleged witch, and he longed for the inn room bed that awaited for him back in town. But before he could even turn his head back, he felt something pulling on his cord, very intelligently, following a pattern that no animal could ever replicate.
Quickly, he turned around, his right hand reaching towards his pocket knife as he inspected the area and panicking when he found it missing. Trying to control himself, he took a deep breath. His eyes followed the neon pink trail, finding no source of the movement, but the tugging kept going.
"Who's there?" He called out, his surroundings a big fuzzy whirlwind as, finally, a figure appeared before him from between the vegetation: a beauty in a cloak, crawling slowly towards him and holding onto the cord for guidance. Tom swallowed thickly, fearing more the idea of this being a dangerous person than the witch he was trying to debunk, but even then, the human brain believed anything when scared and his brain, had every right to consider this as something paranormal.
