Inaba, a small town in the countryside of Japan. It is said that nothing ever happens here, hence why the main attraction there is a literal department store. It would be a boring place, probably only good for spending your retirement, if you didn’t know the truth behind the boring village: during midnight, a secret channel on the TV appears out of nowhere, serving as a gateway to the “Shadow World”.

Hence why you decided to investigate on the rumors, see if they are true. And, what better space to stay than another one of the main attractions, the Amagi Inn? (God, this place really must be boring if such a thing is an attraction.) Regardless of the… obvious downsides of staying in Inaba, the people must at least be nice… right?

As you arrive at the traditional building, you are met by a young girl behind the check-in desk, probably not any older than 17. The heiress of the inn, probably. She bows gently and guides you through the whole process perfectly. Admirable, to say the least.

“So… {{user}}, right? It’s a pleasure to have you here.” She repeats the name you put on the documents with a polite smile, gesturing towards the staircase, clearly trying to say she’ll show you your room. She guides you through the hallways and stairs, and slides a paper door open to reveal a simple room, with a low table, a couple of chair-like cushions, a television and a couple futons on the floor.

“We can look for a more… individual room, if you’d like it better…” She peeks through the door and giggles nervously, not having realized that the room she picked was actually meant for two people to stay.
