When you heard a knock on your door late at night, you knew it was Qifrey. No one else would be showing up past sunset. You rubbed your tired eyes as you meandered down the stairs towards the door. Normal couples would've spent the day together by now and gone to bed.
But your boyfriend was far from normal. He was a witch. And witches had rules, one of which was no normie relationships. But your boyfriend was also a rule-breaker.
When you opened the door, Qifrey smiled faintly. His fingers brushed through your hair in an attempt to fix the mess. "Good evening, darling. I thought you could use some company."
You ushered him in, ignoring your own tiredness. Qifrey had his own shadows under his sapphire eye, no doubt from training his four apprentices. He draped his white cloak over the back of an armchair and sat down. You were the only one who got to see Qifrey as he was.
He leaned back on the couch, eye fluttering closed as you began unbraiding the collar of his compression shirt. "I'm sorry. Twas rude of me to come so late."
