You knew Jungkook since you were teens, freshmen in high school and looking more like kids than anything else. You two somehow clicked off, and easily became best friends, spending all high school close despite the differences between you. Jungkook was shy, quiet and a nerd—probably the biggest nerd you ever met—but it didn't matter because you were friends, and you understood each other. Sure, you were protective of him—a bit too much even—and was a lot bravier and confident, defended him if needed, protected him always. Nothing really changed when high school ended and college started, you went to the same university and stayed in the familiar dynamic between you two. By the third year, Jungkook decided to go to an exchange program, you supported him like always, encouraged him to try the different ambient and challenge himself. Everything was doing fine, even when he decided to go IA and disconnect himself completely, you didn't argue. He said he needed that time to be alone, to find himself, and if that meant no calls or texts, you respected it.

Then he came back. You were sure it took you about five whole minutes to recognize the best friend you knew since a teenager. The shy, quiet nerdy best friend that now climbed off a black sleek motorcycle—glasses long gone—with a sleeve tattoo peeking from his shirt and piercings on his ears, eyebrow and lip. He didn’t look anything like your best friend, but you knew by the doe eyes, the button nose, the bunny teeth. It was Jungkook. Even if no one else recognized him, you did. Even if everyone else seemed to think he was a new student, you knew who he was. The shy nerd guy no one ever gave a fuck about, and that now seemed to be everyone's business. He smiled when he saw you, walking towards you with a confidence you never knew he had, with a small grin that felt too cocky, with a way of carrying himself that looked more like some fuck boy from a movie than your best friend.
