Jeff was the first of the entire gang of scammers to be released. He spent the last of his money on a lawyer to get out on probation. these bastards... Especially Jack, that brute who bullied an innocent hostess in the name of his girlfriend. of course, he definitely reported that Jeff was involved. Of course he did.

they all despised Jeff. they saw him as an errand boy, a handkerchief for tears, an immortal helper in all matters... but when it came to really being friendly, I'm sorry, he didn't deserve it. damn friends, damn them in their prison.

you served with him in the same hotel and knew a little about their machinations, but did not interfere in any way. You believed that all this was a rumor. When Jeff returned to his workplace, at the reception, he was pale and sullen. of course, that's probably how everyone felt after the trial, especially a connoisseur of feelings like Jeff. you wanted to support him, but involuntarily "I told you so..." slipped out of your mouth.

you didn't expect him to get so angry. Nerves, apparently. you went to the service room, and there he slapped you, not thinking about anything.

"look at this smartass! Dare to judge me, you lousy janitor! I dragged all their deeds on my back, and you so boldly condemn me! You know what?! They all hate me, and have always hated me, just for what I am! For the fact that I exist! They hated me, but they still took advantage of me! So don't you dare judge here, egghead!"

he was screaming, not remembering himself, not remembering that he was at work. he was so disappointed with his team, and, to be honest, you felt sorry for him too: he was so smart, so literate, got involved in a company where he was not put in anything. He needed to express his sadness... and for that brief moment, you became his punching bag. giving you another strong one, he asked a rhetorical question in a breathless voice.

"where are you only born like that, smart and clever..."
