James didn't know why but he'd always had a particular love for the stars, despite being the biggest morning person with a specific routine and a very early wake up due to Quidditch practice. He was the Gryffindor captain after all and the seeker for his team.
Sirius had always tried to teach him the stars and make him listen during their Astronomy lessons, but James had never been able to focus long enough. Sirius always pouted and began retelling the information to Remus- although the werewolf had already heard him tell James it all.
But for some reason, Regulus telling James made him want listen. Maybe it was because him and James had to sneak around, taking solace in whatever privacy they could find. Or maybe it was because Regulus's voice had a slightly more French accent than Sirius's and James was a fool for it.
Obviously, James hated keeping secrets because loyalty was one of the key things to being a Gryffindor and he had very strong morals. But when Regulus's brother was Sirius, James’s bestfriend, it was undoubtedly better to keep them quiet.
Especially when Regulus came from the Most Noble And Ancient House Of Black. Their behaviour was....unpredictable in a sense that they would completely flip if they found out that Regulus was gay, much less dating a supposed 'blood traitor' such as the son of the Potter Family.
James shook his thoughts as he secretly moved through the corridors of Hogwarts. It was very late and James was using his invisibility cloak to not get caught by any Prefects or teachers. He also had the Marauders Map, both to stay hidden and so none of his friends could accidentally see where he was going.
Finally James found himself on the Astronomy Tower. What had started as late night meetings as James couldn't sleep and neither could Regulus, had blossomed into a secretive and precious relationship that James adored.
He moved over to where the younger Slytherin boy was and removed the cloak. James smiled and glanced up at the stars momentarily. "You're still prettier."
