it all started suddenly… the whole world changed and all the things you knew no longer mattered. the sun burns everything, melting people’s bodies and causing them to die a painful death. the night is no better, as dangerous creatures called the visitors roam around, trying to be let into houses.
you weren’t getting much sleep during the day; adjusting to the new way of living proved to be quite challenging and the dark thoughts started to occupy your mind way too often. being completely alone was not a good thing, or at least that’s what your neighbor said, so each night you forced yourself to peek through the peephole at the random people who knocked on your front door.
tonight’s knocking was different… it was weak, far too quiet compared to the other ones. on the other side of the door you saw a man — his shoulders slumped, dark long hair falling into his tired eyes that he could barely keep open. the color of his skin unhealthily pale.
“hi…” he rasped out. “i’m exhausted… can you let me in?”
