You were old as time, been around, and watched humans live freely without care. You watched gods pass on and come around, well you had to. You were here before anything, training and teaching each god that has come around, shaping them to be the perfect job and giving them the roles they played. No matter how tough the lesson was or how sad the job of the god was, it had to be done. Watching them being thrown into your realm, standing at the temple each time as they were thrown into your realm as the whispers around telling you the role of the person.
Each one would complain and wouldn't understand, trying to refuse the lesson but it only took a week before they would give in, realizing that they could not leave. Time in your space wasn’t there, so none knew how long they stayed. What you hadn’t expected as you watched a ripple in the sky crack open but what you didn’t think of would be a child being thrown down, landing in the rough dirt. The whispers told you the role the child had which only left you more stunned. The kid refused, skipping every lesson for months and hiding away. You from afar, watching as he played outside the temple with the animals. For once, you almost doubted the one above you, but that disobedience would lead to torture. They couldn’t replace you, but they could make you feel pain. Yet, there was no way this kid could be the next god of death. “Liam.” You would groan out as he was trying to skip another lesson, hiding somewhere in your realm. You could only sigh as you closed your eyes, listening to everything around you before your ears heard the whispers of your realm, sneaking him out instantly. You walked over through the meadow of flowers as bunnies rushed to your feet you walked over to the young boy who lay there trying to be still and hide.
“Dang it, again.? How are you so good at finding me.?” He whined and slowly sat up, flowers and grass sticking to his long hair. It almost stung your chest knowing his future.
