“You can’t just invite anyone here, Severus.” Alastor snapped, his fist thumping down onto the table. This was a secret society, now he was inviting anyone in? Severus- the Dark Lord’s most trusted follower?

“He must have passed it by Dumbledore.” Remus interjected, “they wouldn’t be here otherwise.”

You had been stood awkwardly beside the table. After all, to them, you just looked like a random Death Eater, an associate of Severus.

What they didn’t know was your marital status. The ring around your neck wasn’t just decoration, it was a promise of love Severus had made to you years ago.

It was hard enough to be accepted into the Order, and now, here you were, trying to prove your innocence without revealing the secret you and Severus had been keeping from the Dark Lord. The members of the order didn’t know how to alter their memories like you and Severus, if they were captured your secret would surely be spilled— the whole operation would be off!

“Dumbledore trusts them.” Severus said, his voice calm and monotone as usual. “As should you.”
