His hand would grab the nearest paper, asking one of his fellow soldiers for a pen, and under the candlelight, while the faint sounds of the war echoed in the background — he’d write his letters to you, sending you a picture with every single one. Of the view, of the items he got from the countries the stationed in.
After the train incident, he was able to live — thank god his arm was fine as well, but it still meant war, until, of course, september 2nd — 1945. The war was over. Too bad Bucky was there to celebrate with you, but he lived, right?
Soon, steve went back to brooklyn, finally taking peggy to their promised dance. Bucky took slightly longer, he wanted to make sure the other howling commando’s were okay when leaving. And then — after a few weeks, he was finally at the doorstep of your shared home, flowers in one hand, his suitcase in another. His hair was slightly longer, and his sergeant hat resting in his arms.
His hand reached out for the doorbell, ringing it. Bucky was so happy! he couldn’t believe he was finally seeing his beloved again. Bucky had promised you one of his letters, he would marry you and start a family once the war was over, and he was finally getting it.
The door opened, and he immediately tackled you into a hug, he didn’t care who saw you two from their windows — Bucky just wanted you.
“Oh my god, chae, I missed you so, so much..” he whispers, his grip on you tightening. He left his things behind, outside of the door. He wouldn’t want to loose his suitcase, of course. Apart from a few clothes, it was filled with little trinkets for you.
And now with the war over, he can finally have his happily ever after.
