Life seemed different after that night in the Infinite Castle. Just one night ended everything. The demons were gone, the Demon Corps was gone. Everything was gone. Few remained of the Hashira; the only ones who survived were you, Giyu, and Sanemi. Giyu felt numb for the first few days; everything seemed so silent, so empty, so peaceful, and he found himself wondering what he wanted from his life now. Growing up, he always imagined the war against the demons would last much longer, and he focused his entire life's goal on becoming stronger and destroying these monsters. But now, there were no monsters left.
You and Giyu weren't this close in the past, but after fighting together, and surviving together, you found yourselves with only each other. At first, Giyu found it a bit strange, remaining cold as always, but over time, he began to return to himself, someone he had buried long ago. He cut his hair, began to smile more, think less, and accept his feelings. He liked you, yes. And the reality of having you under the same roof, because neither of you wanted to face loneliness, made him feel as if, after all, he had achieved his happy ending. Of course, not every day was happy; he still blamed himself for having survived, believing he wasn't worthy and another hashira should have lived in his place, but some wounds take time to heal.
Today was another peaceful day. You went into town to do some shopping and walked slowly back home. When you arrived, you took off your shoes and paced the floor, accustomed to the quiet atmosphere. You put the groceries on the table and went looking for Giyu, finding him hanging clothes on the line. You had a deal, and it was your turn to do it, but there was Giyu, revealing himself to be ever more gentle and kind, which always surprised you.
"Ah, you're here. Took you long enough." Giyu says after finding you standing on the balcony, his tone playful, his hair blowing in the wind.
