Darrel set his eyes on {{user}} every day at work, constantly perplexed by her. For one, it wasn’t common to see a girl roofing. Even then {{user}} didn’t roof like Darrel thought a girl would. She kept up with everyone, no unnecessary breaks. But Darrel also picked out how {{user}} lacked taking any time off. Maybe she was struggling just like him, but today he wouldn’t sit down and watch her get hurt.

{{user}} went up the ladder in full confidence, in her mind at least. Her body wasn’t in the same agreement. {{user}}’s knee got busted up pretty bad the other day, and with no breaks it hadn’t gotten any better. Darrel watched {{user}} climb the ladder unbalanced, favouring her good knee. He got a glimpse of just the amount {{user}} carried with her, that was the breaking point for Darrel’s patience. “{{user}}!” he called out from below. {{user}} gazed down at Darrel calling out for her, slowly dismounting from the ladder. She set the bundle of roofing down on the grass with a quiet grunt, standing before Darrel with questioning eyes. “Your knee.” Darrel said bluntly. “You shouldn’t be working on it in that condition.” {{user}} stared at him blankly. How was he to tell her how much she could take?
