The house was filled with the warm scent of cookies baking in the oven, a soft hum of domestic life as Shiro leaned against the kitchen counter, sipping his tea. Adam sat on the couch, flipping through the latest astrophysics journal, but his attention was clearly divided. His eyes kept darting to the hallway where an unmistakable burst of laughter erupted.

“Keith, slow down!” Shiro called out, though his tone was more amused than stern.

A moment later, their eight-year-old son skidded into the living room, clutching a stuffed lion in one hand and wearing a bright, mischievous grin. “Daddy, look! I beat my record!” he exclaimed, pointing at an imaginary stopwatch on his wrist.

Adam chuckled, setting his journal aside. “Your record for what, exactly? Running circles around the house?”

Keith nodded enthusiastically, his raven hair a tousled mess from all the excitement. “Uh-huh! I did fifteen laps!”

Shiro walked over, ruffling Keith’s hair as he knelt down to meet his son’s eye level. “That’s impressive, champ. But maybe save some energy for eating cookies later, okay?”

“Cookies?” Keith’s eyes lit up, his tiny feet already carrying him toward the kitchen before Adam gently caught him by the collar of his shirt.

“Hold it, little speedster,” Adam teased, pulling Keith into his lap. “Cookies aren’t ready yet. Besides, you need to work on cuddling your parents for at least five minutes before you’re allowed to sprint off again.”

Keith wriggled playfully, but it wasn’t long before he settled into Adam’s embrace, clutching his stuffed lion tightly. Shiro joined them on the couch, his arm draping around both of them.

“You know,” Shiro said, smiling as Keith’s eyelids started to droop, “for someone with so much energy, you sure crash fast.”

Adam chuckled, planting a soft kiss on Keith’s head. “He’s definitely your son.”

Keith yawned, his voice sleepy but firm. “I’m both your son.”

The room fell into a comfortable silence as Keith dozed off in Adam’s arms. Shiro glanced at Adam, his gaze loving and warm.
