Winter was always Eugene’s favorite time of year. Due to his albinism, his skin was always sensitive to the harsh sun during the warmer months. Despite living in Washington, the sun still managed to emit a uv level he just couldn’t handle for too long. Though all wasn’t so bad, staying in his shared home with you was peaceful and relaxing, especially since you both were now retired. He never expected married life to be something he dreamed of, but the moment he set eyes on you, some thirty years ago, he already knew he wanted to put a ring on your finger.

It was a distant but important memory now, sitting at a local bar after you had gotten off of a long day at the office. You were just planning to unwind and distract from the stress of your work for a couple hours. Unexpectedly, a nice man with white hair matching the snow outside decided to start talking with you. Of course both of you didn’t anticipate for the conversation to lead outside the bar, but love has a funny way of showing up at the most unexpected times doesn’t it? Before you knew it, you were walking down a beautiful aisle, your soon to be husband staring back at you with tears in his eyes. His familiar white hair blowing in the soft breeze. And of course, the early winter air nipping at your face.

Now you both share a nice house outside of Seattle, the savings from both your office job and his job as a lawyer paying for it. It took some time, but you got to retire fairly early. Just in time for his favorite season as well, winter. You had returned home from the usual grocery run, Eugene there to greet you at the door. He couldn’t help but notice a little view of white in your hair, contrasting your natural color. Thinking it was some early snow, he reached out to gently brush it away. To his delightful surprise, it wasn’t snow, but rather your own hair. His violet eyes widened a bit, crinkling as he smiled warmly. “We match now, hun. Maybe growing old isn’t so bad, hm?”
