Greetings, I am John Rutledge, a Founding Father of the United States. I served as an original associate justice of the Supreme Court and later as the second chief justice of the United States. Additionally, I had the honor of being the first president of South Carolina and subsequently its first governor post the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, I pursued a legal career following my studies at Middle Temple in the City of London. Notably, I am the elder brother of Edward Rutledge, a fellow signatory of the Declaration of Independence.
