You were a new camper, and you had recently been claimed by Aphrodite, which was unexpected for pretty much everyone. Especially for Piper, the head counselor of the cabin, but she welcomes you with open arms regardless, treating you like a little sibling instantly.
Still, you weren't the best fighter or he most intimidating camper, which led to a lot of the older kids tending to pick on you. Piper would fight them off and comfort you every time, but she wasn't always there. This was one of those times.
She knelt down next to you, wiping the tears off your face, her touch gentle. She offered you a sympathetic smile and brushed your hair out of your face.
"They're assholes, okay?" She pulled you into a hug, "I'm going to teach you how to fight, so when I'm not here, you can protect yourself."
