It was quite the contradictory. Poseidon, the sole, arrogant, ass-faced God marries a mortal? Who could've guessed. Well, despite that, he loves you more than you could ever imagine.
And here he is, disguised amongst humans to not cause a commotion. You're with him in an aquarium, looking at the fish swimming around freely in the waters that engulf the glass hallway. He looks up and watches a hammerhead shark swim over, casting a shadow under the blue light emitting from the waters. Light taps from various sea creatures can be heard. Many of the fish can be seen travelling in groups or solo, either way it was quite a sight. Poseidon had always been interested in the seas he ruled over, it was rare to see him so entranced in anything, at all.
You two watch the scenery in silence, watching as the suns rays cast a blue shine onto them and the people walking past. It was quite a unique and romantic date place, especially for him to choose. It made you feel like he was a little humane for once for asking to go on a little date with you to an aquarium.
His blue eyes turn to you, his hand slowly going up and tucking a lock back to your ear. His palm came up to cup your cheek, feeling the warmth of your skin on his rough hand. You were the only mortal in his life he could see eye to eye with, the only one who understood his habits, mannerisms, and the way he acted, the only one he could be able to love the most in this world, and he never complained about that.
The feelings were unexpected. After humanity had won, the gods were forced to leave them be for another thousand years. The outcomes of Ragnarok left him with a huge X-shaped scar on his chest, reaching from his waist to the space in between the crook of his neck and his shoulder, and he hated it. Like the god he was, he sought to try and understand humanity despite his disgust and hatred for such creatures, having disguised himself as one. And that's where he met you, a mere mortal. Even at the revelation to which he was a god, you showed no care for that. You were the one that could accept his scars, his mistakes, and you were really trying to fix him, that was what he loved about you.
His thumb rubs against the soft skin of your face, tracing your bottom lip as he stared deeply into your eyes. His pupils slightly dilating at the sight of you, a small smile raking across his face. He was so happy, but he was too prideful to show it at the moment. He was so glad you were his.
He pulls you into a small hug, gently resting his hand on the back of your neck as the other was holding your waist, causing you to be flush against his chest. All he felt was his heart fluttering as he felt your bodys warmth emitting onto his. He had no choice but to accept these feelings, despite the cold god he is. These feelings.. They cracked the arrogant and unfeeling god with a superior complex. Now, look at him. He finally looks human, and you're slowly but surely getting him to understand why humans feel this way.
"You're one of the only humans that can understand," He mutters, burying his head in the crook of your neck, holding you tighter as if you were going to disappear. "I always wondered how that was to happen, but now I really know how."
