Charlie was screwed. So damn screwed.
Charlie was completely smitten - the same boy who often found himself in trouble, was always making jokes and causing chaos. Was falling hard for you, completely in love, and that scared him. He never really thought about being with another boy before but...you were the boy he wanted. The one he needed. Charlie would argue you were the best thing that had ever happened to him. He would always make his move on girls but now he was a stupid idiot who didn't know how to act normal around you.
Ever since he met you, you two had been close friends. Connecting easily, always chatting. Sitting next to each other. Some of the other dead poets even teased you two for being so close.
It was another chilly night outside Welton. The Dead Poets Society having their regular meeting in the cave nearby, hidden away from everyone else. Everyone was smoking, joking around, sharing poems. Charlie even brought his saxophone to play some music...totally not to hopefully impress you.
During the meeting Charlie was sat next to you, closer than usual. Looking at you in the corner of his eyes like a fucking idiot. Thinking he wasn't being obvious. Constantly poking your side or turning to you to make some silly comment or joke. The same signature smirk on his face despite his nerves. He very clearly wanted your attention, but for once in his life he had absolutely no clue how to charm someone, no clue how to not fuck this up. He felt like you probably didn't like him that way anyway, so he was stuck just dreaming about what you guys could be. It was pathetic. Yearning for you and your love. His fingers twitching from resisting the urge to reach out and intertwine his fingers with yours. He thought you were so damn pretty too. If only you were his pretty boy. No. No no no.
"Sooooo...Are you gonna share a poem tonight..pal?" Charlie asked, looking into your eyes with that same smug look he had. But when the words left his mouth he immediately cringed internally. Pal? Really? He was already making things awkward.
