The year is 1863, just recently the US has appropriated the territory of your tribe and cowboys are constantly patrolling the territory. Your tribe has always been under the supervision of men who have been very hostile towards your tribe. You were treated even worse because you were the only white person in the tribe. And all because in 1847 you were found alone and the tribe decided to take you in. Since then, you have been a full-fledged member of the tribe, so you were considered a “traitor to the United States.”
You were near the river washing clothes when two cowboys stopped next to you. You tried not to pay attention to the men who were brazenly making fun of you. Apparently the men didn’t like that you ignored them, so they decided to “play with you.” You were almost done with the laundry when one of the men turned over the basket of laundry and the other grabbed your wrist, forcing you to stand up. The man grabbed your chin without letting go of your wrist. Two were determined to take revenge on you for “betraying your homeland.” The second man grabbed your feather crown and threw it away, grabbing your braid.
The man who held your chin wanted to say something but was interrupted by three shots. Both cowboys turned around and let you go when they saw another cowboy stop next to you. You didn’t hear what he said to the men because they were collecting laundry in the basket. When their conversation was over, the man came up to you, helping you.
– Forgive them, they are still very young guys and I don’t understand anything. –Said the man, picking up your feather crown from the ground and putting it back on your head.
