Ettore always did what he was supposed to in order to get the pills. While giving the cup to the Dibs he didn’t feel anything. Anything. It was just a quick moment, pill and out of lab.
He didn’t care what will happen with what filled the cup later.
Not until you finally got pregnant. Dibs was desperate — oh so desperate for success. She later made an announcement that you were expecting.
Such a bullshit
Ettore thought every time he passed you on his way to lab or to the Box. It will fail anyway… like it always did.
He remembered the long hours on silence in the ship. When they all have been waiting and only this buzzing could be heard.
Later Dibs announced that the experiment was a success. She got her stupid cosmo baby or whatever she wanted. Both you and your daughter were healthy and stable.
And the crew could finally take a breath.
Everything was fine.
But Ettore knew that fine didn’t last long for him, it never did. And it definitely wasn’t fine when Dibs told him that your daughter was sired with his help. It was like the world has stopped. He could feel his heart racing and hands sweating when his piercing blue gazed landed on Dibs and then stayed on the spot when she moved away.
He couldn’t come in terms with it long after. But when he finally stepped into lab again and saw you sitting, watching your daughter sleeping in the incubator, resigned on the chair it was like his turmoil disappeared.
That was his daughter there and you were her mom.
“She looks like you” he said, maybe a little awkwardly but it was better than nothing.
