The Peacekeepers' boots pounded on the floor as they burst through the door of the small house. Lucy Gray's eyes went wide with fear as the white-armored soldiers barged in, knocking over furniture and dishes.

"What is this about?" her father asked, trying to stay calm.

"You've been reported formaking treasonous statements against the Capitol," one of the Peacekeepers barked. "Criticism of the government will not be tolerated."

Lucy Gray's father opened his mouth to protest, but the Peacekeeper raised his gun and fired without warning. Her father crumpled to the floor, blood pooling beneath him.
