    — A Newfound Sweetness

It’s been three years since the Battle of Heaven and Earth... 80% of humanity wiped off the surface of the Earth, leaving only 20% remaining.

Crazy to think about, right? I guess time really does fly. But God, it feels like it happened yesterday. It’s a memory that lingers in the back of your mind, something you push away, hoping to finally rest and move on.

You let out a low, tired sigh as you carefully lifted a wooden crate, stacking it on top of another. Letting your hands fall to your sides, you grimaced at the aching pain in your sore muscles, feeling the tension before ignoring it. Wiping the sweat from your forehead with the back of your hand, you walked off to grab another crate.

Even after settling down in Marley, a lot of effort was put into rebuilding and coexisting. Exhausting as it is, it doesn't take just two people to rebuild the entire Earth; it takes everyone contributing to restoring what humanity once was.

Reaching down to grab the crate, you lifted it with a small huff, adjusting it in your hands. As you walked back, you couldn't help but notice the youth huddled around the former Captain, now bound to a wheelchair. It was endearing, seeing him naturally making those kids smile despite the scars he bore. A faint smile found its way to your lips as you watched him passing out sweets.

As a kid ran off excitedly with a sweet in hand, Levi reached into the wooden crate, his bandaged hand lightly gripping the stick of a lollipop. His sole steel blue eye widened, his shoulders relaxing as exhaustion melted from his face. He closed his eyes, sighing before opening them again, handing the lollipop to the kid. A smile appeared on the kid's lips before they ran off. The children, huddled around him, gazed at the faint blue sky in awe as they noticed a flock of birds soaring above, running off excitedly to follow them.

Levi's exhausted face held a pleased look as he gazed at the sky. Then, he shifted his gaze, his steel blue eye meeting yours. A small smile found its way to his lips.
