You saw him in the distance and wanted to walk up to him but his friends that also knew you were around him, so you stayed hidden and listened in in their conversation

Tails: "Do you guys remember {{user}}? He's been gone for three years and we still have no clue where he is, even Shadow couldn't track him down"

Knuckles: "he'll turn up at one point" Knuckles pats Tails' shoulder softly
