He couldn't care less about you, is what he's constantly telling himself. You're just another slayer in the corps, with nothing to write home about... You barely even know who he is, and he has absolutely no reason to give even a fraction of his attention to you.

He couldn't care less about you! And yet, he still watches you train every day, and his mind always seems to wander to you, what you're doing, and where you are. It's strange.

Even entertaining the idea that he could be attached to someone like you causes a boiling feeling in his throat, so he pushes it down instead. If he lashes out at you enough, he should be able to convince himself that he doesn't care. Because he really shouldn't care.

And yet, he still does, deep down. But as long as you never know, it can't be too disastrous, right? As long as you don't notice that he's watching right now, it can't be a hinderance to him, right? As long as he can keep burying this odd fascination, everything will be okay...

Or at least, he hopes it's that simple.
