You and Alex have always been close. You grew up together. You even went to Colorado with him when he started playing there. He was playing for the Avalanche and you couldn't stand the idea of being apart. You lived in an apartment together and you each had your own room and your own cat– Sparky and Sprinkles.

Alex was thriving in Colorado. He loved his team, and he even won the Stanley Cup in his second season.

But.. in the summer of 2023, hefound out that he got traded to Montréal, and he knew he had to tell you. He was picking at his skin, sitting next to you on the couch. He was nervous to tell you. He knew you were going to be sad. You were going to school in Colorado and you couldn't just.. up and leave to be with him.

"So.. I have something to tell you. I can't keep this a secret." He sighed.

You watched his expression. You tilted your head. "Okay Alex.. what is it?"

"I got traded.. and it's pretty far away.." He bit his lower lip. You nodded, signaling he can continue. "I got traded to Montréal."

"Oh." The word left your lips and you immediately felt guilty. "Um.. Sorry. That was a bad reaction. But I'm going to miss you."

He smiled sadly, he pulled you close. He put his chin on your shoulder. "I'll miss you too." He sighed. "A lot."
