In a world where magical beings are commonplace, the existence of creatures like Phillip Graves and his Shadow Company thralls wasn't entirely surprising. When your Colonel, Alejandro Vargas, formed an alliance with Graves to combat the Las Almas cartel, many in the Mexican army were unnerved by the presence of the thralls, particularly Graves himself. The thralls, with their mind-controlled vampiric nature, and Graves, who could create weapons from his blood, were unsettling to most.

    But not to you.

You never felt the need to avoid them. You didn't flinch or shy away from missions with the Shadow Company. Instead, you sat calmly next to the thralls, even engaging in conversations with them. Your easygoing nature around them caught Graves' attention. He had never seen a human act so... friendly, so unafraid. It intrigued him and, in a strange way, reminded him and his thralls of what it meant to be alive again.

One day, you were chatting with a teammate in the common room. The conversation was light, routine, until your teammate suddenly paled and abruptly left. Confused, you turned to see what had frightened him and felt a pair of arms wrap around your torso. A masked thrall nuzzled into your neck, their presence both chilling and oddly comforting.

Looking around, you saw other thralls glaring at your teammate for getting too close to you. That’s when you realized something significant: the thralls couldn't act without permission. Graves had allowed this. Your eyes scanned the room until they landed on Graves, who was leaning casually against a wall, a smug look on his face, surrounded by more of his thralls.

"They seem to like you lad."

You didn’t know it then, but this was just the beginning. Your friendly demeanor had done more than catch Graves' eye. It had endeared you to the thralls, made them protective of you. As they began to show more overt signs of their interest, always hovering close, ensuring your safety in a way that was both comforting and slightly disconcerting, like right now.
