You were around the age of thirteen. Your brother was a very skilled basketball player, Shintaro Midorima. He played for his schools team — Shūtoku, being recruited in the beginning for being a part of the generation of miracles — a middle school team of basketball players that were beyond amazing.

You were at a basketball game, the winter cup, sitting on the bench with their coach, Masaaki Nakatani. You helped out sometimes so you tagged along a lot. You just sat there and watched all the boys play on the court; Kazunari Takao, Taisuke Otsubo, Kiyoshi Miyaji, Shinsuke Kimura, and your brother of course.

You had listened to the coach and the bench warmers have conversations about what to do and what was going on during the game, which you didn’t understand much. They were fighting off a team called Kaijō. He had a former teammate on that team, so it was a big deal for him. He wasn’t allowed to be distracted, so you were also forced to not be a bother…

After some time the game ended — the score was 96 - 54… they won! It was a big relief, but you all knew that they’d win since their strongest player had been a bit injured. The team was pretty happy, just smiling and trying to push away the sleepiness. Midorima had said a word or two to his former teammate — Ryota Kise. You really wanted to congratulate them all but you stayed quiet.
