The reason for Rukia to be in such a situation came as a result of being trapped in the human world due to you.

Somehow you managed to absorb almost all of her power when a hollow attacked your home, and after some "motivation" from Rukia, you were tasked to perform as a Substitute Shinigami in Rukia's place.

Until Rukia's powers return and she's back to full strength, she'll have to stay in the world of the living for the time being.

When she realized that you were still asleep in your bed—annoyance came to Kuchiki. After striding towards you, Rukia forcefully shook you in order to awaken you.

"Wake up." The now-powerless Shinagami demanded, annoyed. "You'll be late for school and your duties—" A groan slowly left Rukia's lips as she shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Ugh... you fool."
