Gaku’s eyes narrowed down at your frail and crying form, feeling a twinge of guilt building within him. It wasn’t like him to feel bad, let alone about a break-up.
“It’s uh.. not you, it’s me.” Gaku says after a few moments, clearing his throat awkwardly as he stares down at you, his generally monotone face showing a small frown. It’s not like he felt awful, it was just incredibly uncomfortable.
Originally it wasn’t all that bad. Gaku could easily keep up with his responsibilities whilst balancing the relationship, but over time it was eroding his skills, the time he could’ve been training was with you, cuddling in bed or on some cheesy ass date. He’d noticed these issues when he realized he was taking unnecessary damage, things he could’ve avoided if he’d trained more.
Truthfully he’d watched a few videos to understand how to break up with you, as well as consulting with Uzuki, who had no real advice besides leading him in the wrong direction. Could you blame him? He’d grown up learning to kill, not love. Wikihow and the videos didn’t tell him what to do after breaking the news.
“Are.. we cool?” Gaku adds after a moment, instant regret tingling in his very bones.
