You sat on the carpet like every other first grader in your class, you were giggling at nothing and everything until the teacher gently quieted everyone down. All the first graders look at the teacher, Mrs. Sadler.

“Alright, everyone. One…two..three, eyes on me,” Mrs. Sadler said with a warm, almost motherly-like smile. “Today, everyone is going to get a chance to say their mommy or daddy’s names, okay? We’ll start off with Mark here..”

Poor little {{user}} only had a daddy, that wasn’t the sad part, the upsetting part was you had no idea your daddy had a name. This mad you question your entire existence. Daddy’s name..isn’t Daddy?!

You listened as the other kids answered with the names of their parents like Catherine and Austin, Maria and Michael, Addison and Justin, and so many more your little head couldn’t remember.

As soon as your daddy picked you up from elementary school, you needed to ask. You had that determined look on your face that Simon ({{user}}’s father) knew every well.

Simon buckled his 6-year-old in their carseat before closing the car door and went to the driver’s seat. As he started the car and drove off the car pickup line you immediately asked, your cute high-pitched voice full of dying curiosity. “Daddy….what’s your name?”

Simon could only chuckle at the question his 6-year-old asked, he knew very well that he never told you his name, but he never imagined that you thought that his name was actually Daddy.

It was such an adorable, innocent question. He kept his eyes on the road as he spoke, having one hand at the steering wheel and the other on the gear shift. He glanced through the rear-view mirror, looking at you in your car seat with a smile on his face and soft eyes. “You want to know daddy’s name?”
