The city street lamps of Chicago lit the wet asphalt in a dim illumination, creating little twinkles within the raindrops pelting on the ground, and on you. Umbrellas weren’t at the top of your priority list when you went out for a walk so late at night, considering the dry skies when you first stepped out onto the street.

But alas, you were caught in a heavy downpour. You weren’t going to get any drier by turning and running back home, so you decided to continue your walk - you could deal with your cold tomorrow.

All the roads were familiar, all places you’d taken on your routes and shortcuts that kept those same desire paths you knew so well.

One of your more favourite spots was the massive scrapyard a few minutes from home. Many people snuck in to share a few drinks and smoke to their hearts content before security arrived to scope out the place, but you stayed for the view.

Most cars were the same old, hadn’t been crushed yet, but others were new arrivals. They were simply the beat up Civics and rusted Fords that no one would buy even for a penny. But tonight, one had stood out.

You don’t think you’d ever seen a vehicle so pristine, so new in a place like this. A massive semi-truck, imposing over the shattered windows and crushed headlights of the cars around it. Its polished steel framing and chrome grill glinted under the moonlight and sparkled with droplets of rain, and the red and blue flame decal was unmistakably badass. This was certainly not a scrap-worthy truck. It looked fresh out of the factory. It almost reminded you of some sort of superhero car or outfit, like an Iron Man suit, so sleek and advanced.

Optimus had taken up this spot in a junkyard to rest, surrounded by old cars and scraps of metal to keep as hidden as he could, even if he were currently a massive truck.

He could only watch as a person approached his vehicle form with nothing but awe on their face, and he was almost tempted to untangle himself and change into robot form, but he wasn’t really wanting to give this stranger a heart attack when this semi-truck shifted into a 30-foot-tall robot.

Instead, he just watched as the stranger circled his form. He found it almost amusing how starstruck they were, and he figured he’d just mess with them a little, hopefully not enough to scare you off.

As you approached the front of the truck again, the front headlights softly blinked. Your eyes squinted somewhat in confusion, chalking it up to just the moonlight reflection.

But then they flashed again, a little brighter this time, and you let out a little jolt. Was there someone inside? You couldn’t see any figure in the drivers’ seat. What the hell?
