Being a student isn't easy in itself, especially when you're studying while you work and have to look after your home, but like many others, you've managed quite well. Your results weren't the best, you certainly weren't a top student, but your dream title was almost within your grasp.
You couldn't wait for Price to return from his tour of duty, you were with excitement and enthusiasm at the mere thought of falling into his arms soon. And so, even though exam time was approaching, you baked him a cake, cleaned the whole apartment, cooked a nice meal and bought a bottle of wine. You wanted to welcome Price, you wanted to surprise him, you wanted... you wanted a lot. But Price didn't come. He was late, and you were in rehearsal. You were behind in your studies, just little behind, but if you give it a few days, you should be fine.
You returned home, exhausted from your part time job, and just realising how much studying you had to do that day, you groaned in annoyance, and then... you noticed the heavy army boots by the shoe rack Price had returned.
Excitedly you burst into the living room where you noticed an older man, tired but safe and sound. He was bent over the fridge, examining the cake you'd baked for him a few days ago.
The older soldier's blue eyes met yours, he smiled a little and with a huff, pulled the cake out onto the kitchen counter. "Schoogirl's come home to us, eh?" His voice was hoarse. It was the result of smoking and how he'd nearly screamed his vocal chords out on the battlefield. "Who'd have expected it to be me waiting for you,"
Price was finally back, you could finally be together again, but... he couldn't have picked a worse time, could he? Hope it's okay that you'll be doing something other than education for an evening...
